Gibson, David Mark  
David Mark Gibson INDIANAPOLIS, IN: David Mark Gibson, 91, of Indianapolis, IN, died January 20, 2015, due to complications from a fall. Born August 7, 1923 in Kokomo, IN, he was the son of Carl Banta and Marie (Loop) Gibson. He moved with his parents, and brother John to Mansfield, Ohio in 1929 where he lived until 1941. In 1944 he completed the A.B. degree at Wabash College (Indiana), and in 1948 he earned an M.D. degree at Harvard Medical School (Boston). After an internship with Northwestern University Hospital (Chicago) Dr. Gibson undertook eight years of postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois (Urbana) and University of Wisconsin Enzyme Institute (Madison). Dr. Gibson was a professor of biochemistry at Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis) from 1958 until retirement in 1992, during which period he served as departmental chairman for over 20 years. Dr. Gibson was the first recipient of the Grace M. Showalter Professorship in 1975. He was also the recipient of numerous medical school teaching awards and national fellowships related to diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Gibson was the coauthor of the biochemistry textbook, Metabolic Regulation in Mammals (2002), along with many professional research publications. Visiting professorships were carried out in the universities of Padua (Italy), Utrecht (Netherlands), Ankara (Turkey), and Oxford (England). On June 2, 1951, David married Margaret Isabelle Lockhart (Rocanville, Saskatchewan) in Chicago (deceased April, 9, 1992). David and Margaret met at Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago, during his internship as a medical doctor. Margaret was a nurse who completed her training at the Mesericordia School of Nursing in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Upon her passing, David married Wilda Lee Preston of Mansfield, Ohio on July 7, 2001 (deceased September 3, 2014). David is survived by his brother, John S. (Nancy) Gibson. He is also survived by his five children and nine grandchildren, all of Indianapolis, Carl L. Gibson (Patricia Slater), Anne, Christopher and Eileen Gibson, John L. Gibson; Shauna Marie Gibson, Dr. Katherine (Brandon) Miller, Dr. Joseph (Natalie) Kopp and Heather (Austin) Parrish, Heather (Joseph) Garrison, Samuel and Marina Garrison, Mark C. Gibson (Laura Doolittle), Margaret. David is also survived by Lee's three children, Burton (Prue) Preston, Brad (Betty) Preston, Wendy (Randy) Roper; five step-grandsons; and three step-great grandchildren. Returning to Mansfield in 2001, Dr. Gibson was a member of the Hermits Club, the 51 Club and The First Congregational Church of Mansfield. David was a generous, kind, brilliant man with a beautiful sense of humor, who gave his heart and soul to family and friends. He was loved by his entire family and will be deeply missed. Funeral services for David will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery (Indianapolis). Visitation will take place from 11:00-12:00, and a 12:30 memorial service will be held in the Peace Chapel at Crown Hill. Gray, Mary  
Mary E. Hyatt Bledsoe Gray MANSFIELD: Mary E. Hyatt Bledsoe Gray, 77, of Mansfield, died January 22, 2015 at Brethren Care in Ashland following a brief illness. Born a coal miner's daughter on January 24, 1937 in Bartley, WV, she was the daughter of Roy Clayton and Mattie Alice (Barnett) Hyatt. Mary loved car shows, country music, and CB radios, where she went by "Double L". As a child, Mary loved to roller skate. Regardless of her health, she loved to dance and sure could cut a rug! Always generous with a compliment, she never met a stranger, loved to talk, and always gave hugs. Mary worked for Woodlawn Nursing Home for six and a half years. Surviving are her husband of over 31 years, Ronald E. Gray of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Barb Bledsoe; step-daughters, Angie Gray and Michelle (John) Boggs; step-son, Tony (Megan) Gray; step-grandchildren, Melissa (Sean) Harperink, Mitchell and Maddie Gray, and Sophia Boggs; and step-great grandchildren, Nickolaus, Keith, and Veronica. She is also survived by her brother, Roy (Skeet) Hyatt; sister, Shirley (Joe) Katusick; very special niece, M. Faye (Mike) Dinnaur; and several other nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Lee Bledsoe; sister, Judy Barnes; brother, Lawrence Hyatt; and sister-in-law, Georgie Hyatt. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Mike Rose. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Griffith, Diane  
Diane Lynn Griffith MANSFIELD: Diane Lynn Griffith, 65, of Mansfield, died January 28, 2015. Born September 25, 1949 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Glenn and Ruth (Olds) Griffith. Diane worked for Newhope Industries and at the Richland County Court House. In her free time, she enjoyed watching old movies, listening to music, stock car racing, and NASCAR. Surviving are her brothers, Robert Griffith of Mansfield and Kenneth (Nanette) Griffith of Shelby; niece, Dawn Coffman of Bellville; and nephew, Blake Coffman of Bellville. Diane was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Matthew Pond. Family and friends are invited to visit for one hour prior to the service, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
