Shipman, Ethel  
Ethel "Virginia" Shipman CHESTERVILLE: Ethel "Virginia" Shipman, age 88, of Chesterville and formerly of Mount Gilead, died on April 25, 2015, at Morrow Manor Nursing Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born April 24, 1927 in Miami, Arizona to the late Jacob Irvin and Ethel Margaret (Ross) Midkiff. She attended Phoenix grade schools and graduated from Phoenix High School in 1945. Virginia worked for Arizona Highway Magazine in Phoenix. While in Phoenix she met and became engaged to Dean Shipman. They were married on Sept. 27, 1947. Upon Dean's discharge from the US Army Virginia and Dean returned to Morrow County where they worked on the family dairy and grain farm for 30 years. Virginia worked as a cook for Mt. Gilead Schools for 28 years. She was a member of Bryn Zion Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of Morrow County Halves & Better Halves Farm Bureau Council. Virginia was a member of the Rural Mothers Service League and the Red Hat Society. The Columbus Dispatch named the Shipman Family the Blue Ribbon Farm Family in August of 1967. She was a member of the Morrow County Hospital Orchid Twig and volunteered at the Hospital for many years. She also belonged to Parents Without Partners of Marion, and Morrow County Senior Citizens. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (John) Payne, Norwalk, OH; daughter, Connie (Robert) Segna, Bowling Green, OH; son, Gerald "Jerry" (Cherie (Stone)) Shipman, Mt. Gilead, OH; daughter, Brenda (Terry) Legros, Fredericktown, OH; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy (Melissa) Shipman, Lexington, OH, Jennifer Higgins, Centerville, OH, Jason Shipman, Richlands, NC, David (Michelle) Payne, Middleton, OH, Michelle Higgins (Richard Young), Portland, ME, Matt Payne and Sean Haggard, Lakewood, CO, Mike Gerasimof, Mt. Gilead, OH, Jacob (Amanda) Gerasimof, Collegeville, PA and Joshua Gerasimof and Rebecca Ridella, Jeffersonville, VT, Ami (Segna) and Mike Jones, High Rolls, NM, Michael (Shannon (Marley)) Segna, Roseville, MI, Travis (Hannah) Legros, Mt. Vernon, OH and Justin (Rachel) Legros, Fredericktown, OH; 20 great-grandchildren, Dakota and Skye, Emilee, Hannah and Caitlin, Julianne, Ella and Abigail, Frances, Mari, Mykela, Bradley, Christopher, Sheridan, Logan and Shane, Kanan and Everett, JJ and Brayden; and great-great-granddaughters, Grace and Kenzie. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and Marvin; and sister, Edna Midkiff. Her family will greet friends from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mt. Gilead, OH. A service celebrating her life will be held there on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Chaplin Dave Matos officiating. Burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds can be made to Hospice of Morrow County, Bryn Zion Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead, and Morrow Manor. Shoemaker, Gary  
Gary Douglas "Shoe" Shoemaker MANSFIELD: Gary Douglas Shoemaker ("Shoe"), age 77, our compassionate Lord took his hand giving him peace on April 22, 2015, after an extended illness. Gary was born July 10, 1938 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Lonnie Otis and Lillie Florence Horsley Shoemaker. Gary served in the U.S. Navy (1955 - 1959). He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Hospital Corps School, Bainbridge, Maryland and served as a corpsman on U.S.S. Intrepid (CVA-11). Gary was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Mansfield, Ohio. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 687 and Father Clement Falter Assembly No. 821 Fourth Degree, Faithful Navigator (1992 - 1993). Fond memories were stored in his book of life of the numerous happy times spent with his brother knights and families. Dinners, bowling, but most of all meeting at the "Tee" for golf afforded comradeship and lasting friendships. He retired from General Motors Corporation, Mansfield, Ohio, August 1, 2000, with 40 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Mary Agnes Lopko Shoemaker; his blessings of four children Barbara Lillie Shoemaker, Deborah Jean (Michael) Mayo, Michael Edward (Debra) Shoemaker, and Regina Lynn (Timothy) Steele; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Surviving and special in his life are loving brother and sister; Boyd Allen (Janet) Shoemaker, Reverend Sonja Gay (Donald) Bender, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother; Donald Lee Shoemaker, dearly beloved grand-parents, "Papa" Wilbur and "Mama" Eva Beckner Shoemaker and "Papa" Crittenden and "Mama" Ella Mae Stone Horsley. Our special appreciation goes to Ohio Health MedCentral Hospice, Dr. Patterson, Nurses, Health Aides, and Social Worker, Deb Deems. We are so grateful for their benevolent help given to Gary and his family. Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, Monday from 4-6pm with a vigil service at 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Jeremy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. Sohl, Madeline S.  
Madeline S. Sohl BELLVILLE: Madeline Sohl's kind and loving heart was woven into the fabric of her family. Offering advice, Madeline was always available for guidance and wise direction. As a believer in Jesus Christ, Madeline S. Sohl fought the good fight and on Monday, April 20, 2015, she finished her race, after passing away unexpectedly in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was 89. The daughter of Frederick and May (Kilgore) Reynolds, Madeline was born May 15, 1925 in Mansfield. On August 11, 1941 she married Charles Sohl. Madeline was retired from Therm-O-Disc. Knitting and crocheting, she made coats, dresses, bedspreads and hundreds of afghans over her lifetime. In one year alone she made 40 afghans for a friend. Baking the best desserts, Madeline's red velvet cake and strawberry pie were family favorites. Taking spring trips to Michigan, Madeline loved mushroom hunting. Also hunting locally, she had the uncanny ability to even spot wild mushrooms from the road. Madeline was a member of New Life Church of Christ. She is survived by her son Charles (Bonita) Sohl of Midland, Texas and daughter Beverly (Larry) Thompson of Bellville; grandchildren Melissa (Bill) Smith, Erika (Dave) Kovinchick, Carolyn (Mike) Hargesheimer, Chip (Shannon) Sohl, and Chad Sohl; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family whom she dearly loved. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles J. Sohl; infant daughter Carolyn Sohl; brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Jean Reynolds and sister and brother-in-law Francis "Pud" and Don Farst. A graveside service will be Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Bellville Cemetery. Pastor Dan Noe will officiate. The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is honored to assist the Sohl family with funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Bellville Jefferson Township Rescue Squad may be made through the funeral home. Steward, Clyde  
Clyde Steward TIRO: They say angels walk among us and I truly believe it...for Clyde Steward wasn't just a loving husband, father, brother, and grandpa, he was an inspiration to all that knew him! Clyde was always there to help everyone no matter the need! On Saturday, April 25th, 2015, Clyde Steward, age 64, of Tiro, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at Bucyrus Community Hospital. He was born August 26, 1950 in Mansfield to Fred and Thelma Steward. Clyde retired from R&L as a truck driver and loved fishing and spending time with his family. Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Hazel Steward; four children, James Stevens of Butler, Clyde Stevens of Mansfield, Malinda (Beans) Willier of Mansfield, and Mary (Mark) Campbell of Tiro. Clyde is also survived by six grandchildren, Kristen and Kayla Stevens of Mansfield, Timothy and Eryn Dye of Tiro, Emily Campbell of Tiro, and Zoe Stevens of Mansfield; four great grandchildren; four brothers, Doug (Rita) Steward of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ocal (Janet) Steward of Greenwich, David (Cindy) Steward of Nova, and Dennis (Melinda) Steward of Nova; two sisters, Connie Steward Miller of Tiro and Cindy (Dave) Neeley of North Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Steward, Jr. There will be no calling hours or services held.
