Alice R. King

MANSFIELD: Alice R. King, 87, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.

Alice was born in Crestline, Ohio on July 6, 1925, to James H. Shade and Mildred C. (Hart) Shade. She attended Madison High School and later worked at Barnes Manufacturing during World War II. During the late 1960's, Alice and her husband Robert owned and operated the Main Street Restaurant in downtown Mansfield. Eventually she worked at Hartman Electric where she retired from in 1990.

She participated in bowling leagues for many years and also loved reading and doing word find puzzles. Her greatest joy by far came from spending time with her family. They were the center of her life and she was the center of theirs. Alice was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who never let her family down.

She was united in marriage to Robert V. King on January 22, 1947 which lasted for 55 years until his passing on March 12, 2002. Together they raised 3 children and 1 great-grandson. She was a longtime member of East Hills Presbyterian Church on Park Avenue East. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her son, James C. King; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Fred Barabani and Patricia and Ed Cole. Also seven grandchildren: Robert (Cheryl) Cole, Amanda (Fred) McClellan, Nanette Cole, Toni, Nicholas, Gina, Fred Jr. (Stephanie) Barabani; eleven great-grandchildren, Laura Duncan and Jeremy, Eddie (Courtney) Cole, Jacob and Caleb Barabani, Alyssa, Mason, Zach, Ashley, Devon and Robbie Cole and Henry Gassaway; four great-great-grandchildren: Barrett, Colten, Andrew, and Braxton; a sister Kay (Jerry) Evans; several brother and sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. King; her parents, James and Mildred Shade; two brothers Edward and Donald Shade; sister Glenna Wyllie; and special niece, Cindy Easterday.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the .
