Carrie Diener

Carrie Lynn Diener

LUCAS: Carrie L. (Huss) Diener, age 50, from Lucas passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 in Hospice of North Central Ohio, surrounded by family and close friends. She died after fighting a most courageous three year long battle with Melanoma skin cancer.

She was born in Mansfield on March 15, 1962 to Robert "Bill" and Judie (Bell) Huss. Carrie lived her entire life in the Richland County area with most of it around the Malabar Farm vicinity. She was a 1980 graduate of Lucas High School. In her younger years Carrie was a part of 4H and showed horses, winning numerous trophies and ribbons at the county level. Competing in both western and English style, she took her competition to the state level. Carrie had a deep love for animals and became a vegetarian because of it. Her compassion for animals was commendable and she was always willing to take in a stray.

Carrie worked for 30 years at Therm-O-Disc in Mansfield. She started out working on the assembly line then moved up to an assistant supervisor position in charge of multiple departments. In 2008 Carrie was a recipient of the Twin award: A Tribute to Women and Industry. Recognized for her achievements in the work place, she had the loyalty, heart and drive to succeed in the manufacturing environment. She sadly had to give up her job in 2011 as her health failed her.

Carrie loved flowers and especially her own flower gardens where she spent countless hours when she was still well. Long weekend car rides to antique malls, flea markets or just to get ice cream were favorites of hers. It really didn't matter where she went as long as she had her cherished dog, Rocky, with her.

Carrie will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The courage and humor she displayed to the very end is a testament to her exceptional character. One thing Carrie did wish for is that more people had a greater awareness and understanding of the deadly dangers of Melanoma.

Carrie is survived by her husband of 21 years, Stan Diener; her beloved dog Rocky; her parents Bill and Judie Huss of Lucas; her sister and brother-in-law Kelly & Allen Danas of Lexington; her niece Kortney Danas of North Royalton; her nephew Nik Danas of Lexington; her mother-in-law Christine Diener of Lexington; a brother-in-law Sig Diener of Columbus and Carrie's best friend Roxan Phillips of Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Boyd and Lilian Bell, Robert Sherman Huss, and Evelyn Huss Greer.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Carrie's life will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue, Mansfield. Private funeral services will be held for the family.
