LEXINGTON: Charlene Ettel passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 in her Lexington home following a courageous battle with Alzheimer 's disease. She was 56.

She was born February 1, 1957 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Charles and Dorothy (Surowka) Damico and was graduated from Sayreville War Memorial High School in 1975.

On September 8, 1984 she married Richard Ettel with whom she celebrated 28 years and raised three children.

Charlene worked for 13 years with Richard running C&R Limo service in New Jersey. Moving to Richland County in 2008, recently she was employed at Star-Tek working for Diamond Janitorial and Cuyahoga Vending.

Strong in her Catholic faith, Charlene was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Jersey.

Charlene enjoyed camping with her family, traveling to Florida and South Carolina, and several local campgrounds. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles with Richard and doting on her Beagle Ripkin.

She is survived by her husband Richard Ettel of Lexington, their children Richelle and her husband Cory Spayde of Lexington, Richard Ettel II of Lexington, and Dorothy Ettel of Lexington; her twin sister Diane and her husband Alvah Cox of Sayreville, New Jersey, nephew and niece Alvah III and Jessica Cox; mother Dorothy Damico of New Jersey, father-in-law William Ettel of Florida, brother-in-law Robert Ettel and his family in Texas, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Charlene was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 11 am to 1 pm and 5pm to 7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 7 pm. Interment will be at a later date.
