Charles F. Ramey
SHELBY: Charles F. Ramey, age 85, resident of Shelby passed away peacefully Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his home.
Born August 29, 1927 in Shiloh, Ohio to Taylor and Maggie (Morris) Ramey he had been a Shelby area resident the majority of his life. A veteran
of the U.S. Army
he served three years during WWII
and was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupational Medal. He retired from General Service Administration in 1982 and was a former employee of AMF, Shelby Street Department and Seltzer Park.
Mr. Ramey was a member of the American Legion O'Brien Post #326 and the Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F&AM.
He cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage, fixing broken items, hunting, fishing, gardening, walking the reservoir and spending time talking with friends and neighbors, especially at McDonald's.
Survivors include two sons, Mikle Ramey of Mansfield, and Junior (Brenda) Ramey of Shelby; two daughters, Linda (Robert) Caudill and Brenda (Darrell) Stamper of Shelby; nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Phyllis) Ramey of Bucyrus; one sister, Dorothy Jones of Morehead, Kentucky, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ramey in 2005; one brother, John Ramey; two sisters, Betty Sweat and Tressie Kelly, and his step-mother, Polly Ramey.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 AM Thursday, October 4, 2012 from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend S. T. Adkins will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM . Memorial expressions may be made to Med Central Hospice.
