Charles "Ed" Taylor

MANSFIELD: Charles "Ed" Taylor, 86, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at OhioHealth MedCentral. Born September 13, 1927 in Mansfield, he was the son of John Russell and Katherine (Stoner) Taylor. Ed retired from Mansfield Screw Machine. He loved fishing at both Lake Erie and Charles Mill Lake and auto racing, attending many NASCAR races. Ed enjoyed flea markets, camping, and traveling in his motor home. An all around good guy, Ed was a loving and gentle man who be missed deeply by his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Linda (Larry) Callahan of Phoenix, AZ, John Taylor of Mansfield; and Sue (Ted) Brissell of Lexington; grandchildren, Jim (Bonnie) Drummond of Oklahoma, Laura (Ben) McElvaine of Bellville, Tammy Taylor of Mansfield, Katherine (Jeremy) Lawhun of Bellville, Travis Brissell of Lexington, and Lori Callahan of Tennessee; 10 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother, Robert Taylor, Sr. of Mansfield; brothers-in-law, Donald Metz, Sr. and Robert Metz, Sr., both of Mansfield and Glenn (Judy) Metz of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lauretta (Metz) Taylor.

Friends may call Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Thomas Blair. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
