Clinton R. Dotson

SHELBY: Clinton R. Dotson, age 94, of Shelby died Sunday morning November 3, 2013 at his residence.

Born December 2, 1918 in Moorefield, OH to Claude and Cora (Green) Dotson.

He was a graduate from Mt. Vernon Academy in 1941, and was a veteran of the United States Army, which he served in WWII. He had been an Owner and administrator of the Hillside acres Nursing Home and had built many other nursing homes.

He was a member of the Seventh day Adventist Church in Norwalk, OH and a lifetime member of the American Legion. In Clinton's free time he enjoyed gardening, farming, and traveling to Arizona for the winters.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Weaver) Dotson; three sons, Douglas (Kim) Dotson, of Waynesville, OH, Timothy (Sonia) Terry of Shelby, OH, Thomas (Donna) Terry of Arizona; many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister, Lucile Long of Charlotte, NC; four daughters-in-law, Hazel Ute, Jerie Ute, Marilyn and Sherri Dotson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; previous wife, Nellie Dotson; seven sons, Robert, William and Benjamin Dotson and Gary, Charles (Midge), John and Tom Ute; relatives that were raised by his parents and were like his sisters and brothers, Leonora Poland, Maxine Singer, Glenn Anderson and Bob Anderson.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 7, 2013 in Mound View Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, OH. Pastor Marius Marten will officiate and military honors will be observed. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Vernon Academy in care of Barkdull Funeral Home.
