Darriel Eugene Lowe

MANSFIELD: Darriel Eugene Lowe, 61, of Mansfield, died Tuesday afternoon, June 17, 2014 at Richard Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was one of ten children born to the late Laura (Slone) and Eugene Lowe on September 14, 1952 in Pikeville, Kentucky. Darriel was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War and member of V.F.W. Post #9943.

Darriel was very involved in AA, especially in Chillicothe and Georgia, where he made many lasting friends. He was a mentor to others in Veterans Court since moving back to Mansfield three years ago. He was a very giving person who would do anything to help someone in need. Darriel's sense of humor was contagious. He enjoyed tinkering on anything with an engine and loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Darriel is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Eric Winbigler; seven siblings, Linda Smith, Wanda S. (Jerry) Parrella, Anthony W. Lowe and Sandra K. (Kenny) Tackett, all of Mansfield, Sally (Randy) Kennedy and Robin Lowe, both of Gambier, James S. Lowe of Lexington; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Lowe; sister, Sandra Lee Lowe; and brother, Perry Lowe.

The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
