David Nickolas Schunatz

LEXINGTON: David Nickolas Schunatz, 72, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born July 10, 1941 in Mansfield to the late Evelyn (Faugl) and Nickolas Schunatz. David was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, operating heavy equipment in the SeaBees and was proud to have served his country. He continued his veteran occupation into his civilian life operating heavy equipment for various business through the local Operating Engineers Union.

David was a life member of V.F.W. Post #7651. He enjoyed relaxing at his home and spending time surrounded by the women in his life and many friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Armstrong Schunatz; three daughters, Amy (Doug) Hamrick of Lexington, Kelli (Greg) Schwall of Dayton and Christy (Steven) Fraysier of London, OH; eight granddaughters, Nicole and Katelyn Hamrick, Megan, Kirsten and Rebekah Schwall, Emily, Kierra and Addison Fraysier; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Payne; three brothers, James (Marilyn) Schunatz, Kenneth Schunatz and Gary (Cathy) Schunatz; two sisters, Marilyn Reed and Dolly (Tony) Blackburn; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; and good friend, Don Ness.
