Donald C. Bryant
MANSFIELD: Donald C. Bryant, 81 years old passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Donald was born on May 17, 1931 to Lora Sr. and Georgia Bryant in Frankfort, Ohio.
Donald attended Frankfort City Schools until leaving to join the United State Navy. After being honorably discharged, Don married the love of his life for 56 years, Ila Mae Wolford Bryant. Don loved all sports, especially basketball of which he played in his younger years. Don was a member of the American Legion Post #676 INC.
Don was a hardworking man, farming with his father while also working at the DuPont Plant in Circleville, Ohio until moving to Columbus, Ohio, where he worked for the former L & K Restaurant. In 1973, Donald transferred with his family to Mansfield, Ohio, to become manager of the restaurant. Affectionately known as "Mr. B.", Don later worked at the Mansfield Reformatory until retirement. Don will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Lora and Georgia Bryant, Sr.; brothers, Charles, John, Curtis, James and Robert; and sisters, Mary Ellen and Louise. Along with his faithful wife, Don leaves to cherish his memories, his brother, Lora (Mary) Bryant, Jr.; six children, Debra (Jethro) Wilcox, Donald Jr. (Cheryl) Bryant, John (Pendelon) Bryant, Hazel Torrence, Steve Stidam and Torrie Hooper; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad.
