Dorothy Ann (Cole) Guthrie
MANSFIELD: Dorothy Ann Guthrie, 81 of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Hospice House of Ashland surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 30, 1932 in Mansfield to David C. "Doc" & Lois (Wolfe) Cole. After she graduated from Mansfield Senior High with the class of 1950 she furthered her education at The Ohio State University
where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. A proud alumnus, Dorothy remained an avid OSU fan and enjoyed watching the games with her husband. She worked in Mansfield City Schools for 25 years as a paraprofessional and taught swimming at the YMCA.
On June 21, 1953 Dorothy married Robert Guthrie. She was not only a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but she was also the rock of her family. Although she enjoyed reading, traveling, solving puzzles, and taking long drives with her husband, her first passion and priority was always her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Dorothy was a member of the Sons of Herman and of Little Washington Congregational Church both in Mansfield.
In addition to her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Guthrie of Mansfield, she is survived by her children: Michelle Barlow of Mansfield, Stacy Hubbard of Lexington and Scott Guthrie of Portland, OR; three grandchildren: Andy Hubbard of Columbus, Adam (fiancée Marissa Schillinger) Hubbard who is in the US Army and Sean Guthrie of Portland, OR; two great-grandchildren: twins Allie and Alex Hubbard, and their mother Sara Cobb; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Peg & Don Wyatt of Lexington, and Becky & Richard Hanks of Niles, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Dorothy's funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 in Little Washington Congregational Church, 2323 Washington South Rd, Mansfield, 44903. Friends are encouraged to call one hour prior to the service and the Rev. David Root will officiate.
