Douglas E. Baker
BREVARD, NC: Douglas E. Baker, 51, of Brevard, NC, passed away on October 29, 2012, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born on October 12, 1961, in Mansfield, to Gene Baker and Norma M. Perkins Baker. He graduated from Lucas HS and JVS in 1979. He was a journey man tool and die maker and presently working for Magna International in Greenville, SC as a Tool and Die Engineer.
He was loved and respected by all who ever knew him. He loved riding his Harley and rode it to work, weather permitting. He instructed tool and die courses several years in the Mansfield Adult Education evening classes.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Michelle Baker of Brevard, NC; two children, Levi Baker of Mansfield and Alyssa (Brian) Wooten of San Antonio, TX; one granddaughter, Sydney; step children, Liza Goatcher of Austin, TX, Connor Freeman of Brevard, NC, and Sabra Freeman of Brevard, NC; and step granddaughter, Olivia Goatcher of Austin, TX; loved by, Kasey Newcomer and Brianna Hart; mother, Norma Marlene Baker of Mansfield; father, Gene (Lodean) Baker of Mansfield; three siblings, Greg Baker of Mansfield, Adam Baker of Lucas, and Brad Baker of Mansfield; two step siblings, Ryan (Lisa) Bradshaw and Renata (Jeff) Corns; uncles David (Delores) Baker and Bill Baker both of Ashland; one aunt, Linda Esterline of Mansfield; numerous cousins; in-laws, Ed and Anne Lerandeau of Marlborough, MA; brother-in-law, Paul Lerandeau of Fresno, CA; and sister-in-law, Diane Kraft of Marlborough, MA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Baker and maternal and paternal grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012, at The First Church of the Open Bible, 1150 Rayfield Road, Mansfield.
