Douglas J. Russell, Sr.
SHELBY: Douglas J. Russell, Sr., age 50, resident of Shelby died Thursday, December 20, 2012 in MedCentral/Shelby Hospital following an extended illness.
Born November 12, 1962 in Plainwell, Michigan he had been a Mansfield resident for many years moving to Shelby in 2005. Douglas was a big Star Trek fan, enjoyed cars, music, drinking Dr. Pepper and the companionship of his best friend "Shultz" his Rottweiler.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen (Wilson) Russell, whom he married May 7, 1982; three sons, Douglas (Anita) Russell, Jr. of Mansfield, Cain Russell (Bethy Carroll) of Shelby, and Martin Russell of Shelby; four grandchildren Ty, Tya, Tyson and Tyler; his mother, Veronica Russell of Shelby; one sister, Diane Russell of Shelby; one brother, Darrin James of Mansfield; special friends, Thomas Young, Ron and Brian Hurst, Dwayne Kilgore and the James family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Larry and Lucille Chambers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Zadeh and his staff for all the years of help they provided for Douglas.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby with Pastor Edward Kelley, of the First Apostolic Church of Ashland, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
