Edwin L. Lillibridge

MANSFIELD: Edwin L. Lillibridge, age 82, of Mansfield and formerly of Bellville passed away Saturday afternoon, January 25, 2014 in his home.

He was born February 27, 1931 in Conesville, the son of Arthur and Olie (Stratman) Lillibridge.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Ed served in Korea and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He was also a former member of Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion in Bellville.

For over 33 years, Edwin worked in the equipment maintenance department at General Motors, retiring in 1989.

He was a long-time member of Clear Fork Alliance Church, where he served the congregation as a deacon and was a faithful member of the Monday Morning Bible Study.

Ed enjoyed hunting raccoon, squirrel and rabbits. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, spending many weekends at Lake Erie and down at Kokosing Lake.

Edwin was a kind man with a big heart. He was easy going, and very giving…he would give his last penny to anyone if it was needed. Light hearted, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, he loved to tease and visit with friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Luella (Legg) Lillibridge whom he married September 15, 1980; three children James Lillibridge of Ashland, Larry Lillibridge of Elwood City, PA, and Joyce and Scott Norris of Bellville; three step-children Larry Martin of the Philippines, Yvonne Dawson of Lancaster, and Debbie and John Metzger of Florida; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a step-great grandchild. He is also survived by his companion Buddy, a black and white shih tzu, who never left his side.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Lillibridge.

Friends may call Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 5-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 am. The Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Military honors conducted by Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion will be held on the grounds of the funeral home.
