Elias Charles Cline

ASHLAND: Elias Charles Cline, age 91, of Ashland, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at his residence.

He was born April 18, 1922 in Shelby, the son of Charles Jennings and Carrie (Barnes) Cline. Mr. Cline had been a resident of Ashland County most of his life. He had been the owner and operator of his farm he built in 1962, he had been the owner of a welding shop in Nankin for 3 years, he had been a Farm Equipment Dealer for 15 years, he had been a welder for the Ashland Vault Company, and after retiring he was employed with the Farm and Fleet Store. Mr. Cline was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for his service in WWII where he became a Metal Smith 1st Class. He was a life member of the yesteryear Machine Club and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He had been a trustee in Milton Township for 26 years and trustee for the Imhoff Cemetery for several years. Mr. Cline was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing on his boat at Lake Erie with his friends and family, restoring tractors and collected ducks all of his life having close to 500.

Survivors include his two daughters, Jeanne Jatana of Ashland, Lucinda (Gene) Key of Marion; along with his sister, Winigene Brown of Fairborn. Mr. Cline was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leon Cline, Frank Cline, Henry Cline, Jack Cline; along with his sister, Winifred Hanno.

Funeral Services will be held at the Heyl Funeral Home on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Don Earlenbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at the Imhoff Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Ashland Veteran Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
