Harold J. Vance

MANSFIELD, OH: Harold J. Vance, 83, of Mansfield, died Sunday, August 4, 2013.

Born April 24, 1930 in Broadway, OH, he was the son of Harold and Doris (Sanderson) Vance.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Harold retired from General Motors. A very generous and caring man, he had the kind of integrity that made him worthy of anyone's trust. Harold was a hard working man, but always found the time to joke around.

He is survived by his son, Charles Vance of Mansfield; daughters, Patricia (Fred) Kitts and Tyauna "Ty" Robertson (fiance, Tony Fava), both of Mansfield; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brother, Dalton Vance of Kenton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rev. Avis A. (Bentley) Vance in 1998; daughter, Gina Marie (Vance) Yates; grandson, Max Bowman; sister, Marguarite; and brothers, Donald, Robert, Richard, and Cyril Vance.

Friends may call Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Kirk Stamper. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery.
