Hazel M. Bond
MANSFIELD: Hazel M. Bond, 78, of Mansfield was called home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born November 29, 1934 in Haywood County, Tennessee to the late Zella and Alexander Riley.
Hazel married James Bond, her high school sweetheart, on May 20, 1954. On Easter Sunday 1955, Hazel joined her husband, James, in Mansfield, Ohio. Hazel was a hard working homemaker, often taking care of the livestock and farming while raising her five children. Her family was most important to her and she showered them with her love and wonderful cooking. James most enjoyed her fried corn bread and black-eyed peas. Every holiday, Hazel's home was filled with family and her amazing homemade wonders. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.
Hazel loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Eastside Church of Christ. She was an excellent example of unwavering Christian love and generosity to not only her family, but her church family as well.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband of 59 years, James Bond; four children, Helen Bond, Eunice Bond, Craig Bond and James L. Bond; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Alexander "Buddy" Riley. She is also survived by many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dwight Bond and brothers, Jessie and James Riley.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield with Minister Don Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
