Isaac N. Webb

MANSFIELD: Isaac Webb, 83, of Mansfield passed away November 5, 2012 at his home.

Isaac was born November 16, 1928 in Mansfield to Isaac and Ellen Back Webb. He was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High and then joined the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. Isaac became Captain of the Guards at the Ohio State Reformatory and then worked for the United States Postal Service where he retired in 1990. Upon retirement he became a volunteer for the restoration of the Ohio State Reformatory and was a member of their board of directors. Isaac had written three books about life inside the Reformatory.

Survivors include his children Carol (David) McClain of Mansfield, and Mark (Jeni) Webb of Medina; grandson Izak Webb; sister Mildred Fry of Mansfield; special nephews Ken Webb, Leo Arndt, and Dan Arndt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor; daughter Nancy Webb; sister Violet Reid; brother Clifford Webb.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Friday from 9 - 10am with military honors conducted at the conclusion of calling hours by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. A graveside service will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery with Deacon Terry Philpott conducting the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society.
