Jack L. Hively
SHELBY: Jack L. Hively, age 69, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013. He was born November 6, 1943 in Mansfield, one of seven children of the late Carl V. and Ruth (Oswalt) Hively. Jack graduated from Madison High School in 1961. He retired from MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after 25 years, which is where he met his wife, Elizabeth Ann Smith. He had previously worked 25 years at Ohio Brass and for several years at Hi-Lo Trailers of Butler. In his free time, he enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and keeping busy with his favorite hobby, working on old and special interest cars. His family, and most especially his grandchildren, brought him great pleasure. He was a long-time member of Clay Memorial Lutheran Church and had also attended Little Flock Fellowship Church. Jack was the caretaker at Clay Memorial Lutheran Church for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Rosemary (Darrell) Jaynes of Mansfield; son, Mark Hively (Tom Trout) of Shelby; two grandchildren, Justin (Mandy) Plemens and Connor Plemens, both of Mansfield; one great-granddaughter, Jaelynn Marie Plemens; two brothers, Raymond (Carmen) Hively, Larry (Cathy) Hively, both of Mansfield; two sisters, Shirley Hively and Darlene "Jeannie" (Edgar) Tackett, both of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Ann Hively in November 2009; sister, Elvira "Cookie" Simmons; brother, Robert "Bobby" Hively; nephew, Larry Hively, Jr.; and niece, Brenda Keaton.
Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to University Hospitals in Cleveland or MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
