SHELBY: Jack H. "Skeeter" McLaughlin, age 77, resident of Shelby died Sunday, February 3, 2013 in Hospice House of Ashland from complications following surgery.

Born March 23, 1935 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania to Homer H. and Rose (Bailey) McLaughlin he had been a long time Shelby resident. Jack graduated from Kittanning High School in 1954 where he played varsity football. He retired from Copperweld in Shelby after 33 years of service and was a veteran of the US Army stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Jack was a member of the First Lutheran Church and, until recently, an active member of Fleet's Fitness Center.

An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Skeeter enjoyed riding motorcycles, target shooting, weight lifting and skydiving, having completed 29 jumps.

He is survived by his wife, Carol R. (Monteleone) McLaughlin, whom he wed October 22, 1966; their four children they raised together, Michael (Amy) McLaughlin of Shelby; Sheri (Michael) Gombosch of Ontario, Steven (Jodi) McLaughlin of Shelby and Patrick Kelly (Shelley) McLaughlin of Ashland; his daughter, Tonia (William) Peacock of Westlake; eleven grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, Kasi, Rachel, Addison, Kristian, Sydney, Logan, Leah, Carson and Adam; cousins and his canine friends, Molly and Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Rev. Russel Yoak will officiate with interment held in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
