James Lookabaugh

James William Lookabaugh

ONTARIO: James William Lookabaugh of Ontario, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at his home. He was born June 13, 1925 in South Charleston, Ohio to the late John and Irene (Bayne) Lookabaugh. Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy ~ serving from September 1943 to March 1946. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific and the Philippine Liberation on the USS Ingraham and the USS Achelous. He moved to Mansfield in 1957 and was a carpenter and builder by trade. Jim loved growing roses and flowers. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and had helped them remodel the church.

His is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ethel whom he wed on September 24, 1957; one son, Dennis; two grandchildren, Joshua and Brandon of Pleasantville, TN; one sister, Margaret (Charles) DeButy; and one brother, Larry of Springfield, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2012 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Thomas Blair. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Friends may also call one hour prior to the services, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home on Thursday.
