James T. "Jim" Seymour

MANSFIELD: James T. "Jim" Seymour, 61, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield after a courageous, unrelenting battle with cancer since 2008. Born March 11, 1952 in Mansfield, he was the son of James D. and Jessie V. (Thomas) Seymour.

He was a member of the Lexington Church of Christ and had served as a church trustee. He was a born caregiver and provider of comfort to people in need, always being very responsible at a young age. A quiet man with quick dry wit, Jim was known for his many "Seymourisms". He was an avid golfer in a variety of leagues throughout his life having achieved a hole in one in 2009. Jim was a member of the OSU Alumni Association and was an avid sports fan of all Ohio sports, but his favorite event was following his son's golf tournaments.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sheryl (Phillips) Seymour of Mansfield; son, Dylan James Seymour, at home; sister-in-law, Kathy Gerhart; nephew, Dustin Gerhart; aunt, uncle, and numerous cousins; a host of friends; and his nursemaid and family pet, Lexie.
