MANSFIELD: Jean Barr passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 in St. John Medical Center in Westlake. She was 92.

She was born October 9, 1921 in Picton, Ontario Canada to Clayton and Pearl (Walmsley) Ostrander. Both parents are deceased.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Donald W. "Don" Barr and by their beloved daughter, Cindy, who was killed in an automobile accident right after her graduation from the College of Wooster in 1978.

Four of her six sisters preceded her in death: Merle, Morva, Nedra and Ila, and by her only brother Winston.

Jean and Don made their home in Singer Island, FL but they continued to spend summers in their Mansfield country home.

Jean was a faithful servant of the Lord. She conducted Bible classes in her Mansfield home and previously in Ashland. She had many friends throughout this area and also in Florida.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna-Jeanne Barr of Rocky River and Melanie (Tim) Staker of Cherryville, B.C. Canada; a grandson Myles D. Staker; and a granddaughter Ivy Jean Staker; Canadian sisters Wilma Tripp and Joyce Iverson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was a member of Westbrook Country Club and she attended Berean Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Berry will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call the hour prior to the service.

Contributions in her memory to MedCentral Hospice may be made at the funeral home.
