Jimmie "Jim" Caudill
MANSFIELD: Jimmie "Jim" Caudill, age 63, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 4, 2014. He was born March 1, 1950 in Clearfield, Kentucky and moved to Mansfield when he was 3 years old. He was a 1968 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School.
At the tender age of 13, Jim was called to the ministry at Lake Odessa, Michigan. Later, he became a licensed bishop in the Church of God and became a pastor for two churches in the 1970s- one in Hillsboro and the other in Ganges. Jim was a member of Journey Life Center where he served as Elder, Treasurer, Superintendent and Sunday school teacher.
He began his career in retail at Uncle Bill's and was last employed at Santmyer Oil, where he was a fuel transport driver. Able to fix anything, he also admired the style of the 1960's muscle cars.
Blessed with leadership qualities and a wonderful sense of humor, Jim was a master joke teller and enjoyed sharing his stories with others. He lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed going on cruises, especially to Alaska and watching football, cheering on the Browns, Buckeyes, or whichever team was winning the game he was watching at the time.
Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna Jones Caudill, whom he married on October 30, 1971 in Mansfield; three children, Josh, Ben and Kristin Caudill, all of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Garrett, Brendan and Brady Hollinger of Mansfield; two brothers, Gary (Paulina) Caudill and Tom (Cynthia) Caudill, both of Mansfield; a brother-in-law, Charles (Becky) Jones of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine (Perkins) Caudill and Stephen Douglas Caudill; baby sister, Pauline; and foster brother, Carl Blakeman.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2014 at the Journey Life Center, 2578 Springmill Road, Mansfield. A funeral service will be held in the church Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Bruce Philippi officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the church to Far Flung Tin Can Missions.
The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Jim Caudill.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Mansfield Memorial Homes for their conscientious care of Jim during his stay.
