MANSFIELD: John "Jack" P. Kennedy, 90, of Mansfield, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at his home. Born July 2, 1923 in McDonald, PA, he was the son of John P. and Esther (Steele) Kennedy, Sr. A World War II
veteran with the U.S. Army
, Jack was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor degree in chemistry. He had worked at Empire Steel in the chemical testing lab before he worked in the advertising department at the News Journal. Jack was always willing to travel around the country to wherever his job took him. He was very active with the Mansfield Playhouse acting, directing, and building sets. A Civil War buff, Jack had also built a sailboat in his garage.
He is survived by his wife, Anne L. (Kessinger) Kennedy of Mansfield; sons, John (Carol) Kennedy of Huron and Kevin (Mireya) Kennedy of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Scott (Leontien) Kennedy and Sara Kennedy, both of Columbus, Matthew Kennedy of Coral Gables, FL, and Ashley Kennedy of Plantation, FL; great granddaughter, Alah Kennedy; half brother, Lance Kennedy; and half sister, Shannon Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
