Juanita J. Massa

MANSFIELD: Juanita J. Massa, 93, of Mansfield, died Monday evening February 18, 2013 in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Juanita was born October 16, 1919 in Mansfield the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Polen.

While playing in the Mansfield Senior high school marching band, Juanita caught the eye of a young tuba player, Robert E. Massa. On December 13, 1940 the two were married and remained Mansfield area residents.

Unassuming and reserved, Juanita loved to serve others. For over 50 years she volunteered for the American Red Cross and for decades worked the local election polls. She also enjoyed gardening.

Juanita was a member of Resurrection Parish.

She is survived by her son Robert C. Massa of Mansfield; two grandchildren and their spouses Mark & Elizabeth Massa and Stacey & Jeffrey Voskans; four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Massa, daughter-in-law Judith Massa, and two sisters.

A graveside service will be held Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1 pm in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. The Very Rev. Father Nelson Beaver will officiate.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Memorial contributions to Resurrection Parish may be made through the funeral home.
