MANSFIED: Known as a man of order and conviction, Ken Hargis rejoiced in the hope of the Messiah, was patient during times of trouble, and continued steadfastly in prayer. The fruits of the spirit evident in Ken, he knew that nothing in the Torah stands against love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self control.
On Wednesday evening, December 12, 2012, Ken Hargis, of Mansfield died in the emergency department of Mansfield MedCentral Hospital. He was 57.
The son of Howard and Jean Hargis, Ken was born March 13, 1955 in Kansas City, Kansas.
After graduating high school, he entered the military serving in the NAVY, where he retired after 20 years.
Ken worked for Republic Steel in Lorain as Director of Operations.
Ken loved anything outdoors. Described as a "woodsman", he hunted, fished and enjoyed camping. In his spare time, Ken also enjoyed target shooting both guns and arrows.
For the past four years, Ken and his family have been members of Sar Shalom Messianic Congregation, where Ken was faithful in serving as shammashim on Shabbat. Described as unselfish and generous, Ken lived to serve Yahweh.
Family time was a must with Ken. Watching movies, going shopping or eating out, Ken cherished every moment with his wife Cathy and daughter Cayla. Often revealing a softer side, Ken had a great sense of humor and lovingly joked and teased friends and family.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Cathy Hargis and their daughter Cayla, both of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Sar Shalom Messianic Congregation, 2055 Middle Bellville Road where Messianic Rabbi William Hallbrook will officiate.
