Kimberly R. Welch
SHELBY: Kimberly R. Welch, age 22, resident of Shelby died Thursday, December 26, 2013 following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
She was born July 15, 1991 in Pasadena, California to Timothy and Linda (Christian) Welch. Kimberly's family moved to Shelby in 1995 where she attended school graduating in 2010 from Shelby Sr. High School. She enjoyed playing tennis and was on the girl's tennis team all four years of high school. A University of Toledo student, she was in her fourth year of computer science engineering studies. While attending college she was employed with National Machinery, Tiffin, Ohio, in the IT department.
A member of the United Church of God in Mansfield, she served as president of the Women's Engineering Society at the University of Toledo and was involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwesten Ohio where she mentored a nine year old girl.
Kimberly was a kind-hearted person who enjoyed the little things in life, like butterflies and smiley faces. She also liked painting, drawing and playing the piano. Known by her family as the "peacemaker" she enjoyed helping others and was never selfish. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her parents, Tim and Linda Welch of Shelby; one sister, Katie Welch at Kent State University; her grandparents, Darrell and Doris Christian of Lewisburg, WV, and Max Welch of Irving, TX; aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby with Elder Art Morris officiating. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM on Monday, December 30th in Scott - Oakland Cemetery, Scott, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30-3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kimberly's memory to Big Brothers Big Sisters at BBBS of Northwestern Ohio, Inc., 4 Seagate, Suite 660, Toledo, OH 43604.
