Leroy H. Knapp
MANSFIELD: Leroy H. Knapp, 82, of Mansfield passed away March 19, 2014 at MedCentral Health System. Leroy was born August 13, 1931 in Mansfield to John and Elizabeth Sanders Knapp.
He served in the United States Army
during the Korean Conflicts earning a Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars
. Leroy was the owner and operator of Knapp's Linoleum and Installation for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Peter's Catholic Church and President of the "Manhattan Club." Leroy loved watching his grandchildren's activities, especially wrestling. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards. He had many many friends who will surely miss him.
Survivors include daughters Barb (Kirby) Kin, Carrie Kanz, Cindy (Todd) Wrobleski; son John (Bunnie) Knapp; nine grandchildren Jesse Kanz, Kyle (Trey) Daring, Thomas, Taylor, Bridget and Bailey Knapp, Kaye and Anne Wrobleski; six great-grandchildren Tricia, Chase, Brianna Kanz and Sutton, Rowen, Bexley Daring; sister-in-law Ann Marie Vaughn.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Joan Geller Knapp; twin granddaughters Megan and Kathleen Wrobleski; sisters Viola Tata, Anita Olexa; brother Tom Knapp; brothers-in-law Tony Tata, Steve Olexa.
Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Monday from 4-7pm with a vigil service at 4pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00am Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Hite officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery with military services provided by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
