Marillyn J. Mayer
SUN CITY, AZ: Marillyn J. Mayer, 85, of 9940 West Union Hills Drive, Sun City, AZ died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Sun City Health & Rehabilitation Center, Sun City, AZ. She had been in declining health since 2007.
Marillyn was born in Crestline on October 2, 1928 to the late Wilfred F. and Josephine E. (Costello) Weaver. She married Thomas J. Mayer on June 17, 1950 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1999.
Marillyn graduated from Crestline High School in 1946. She was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Sun City, AZ. She was a former life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline where she was baptized. Marillyn was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Seton Society, often holding leadership positions. Marillyn worked as a secretary at the Crawford County Veterans Service Office in Bucyrus for twenty years, retiring in 1990. After retirement, she and her husband Tom moved to Arizona to enjoy the western United States with their family. She loved the outdoors, and would work outside, no matter what the temperature. Her favorite pastimes were to walk, bicycle, swim and cook family dinners. An avid sports fan, Marillyn proudly supported the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. GO IRISH !
She is survived by her daughter and four sons: Connie and David Ady, Glendale, AZ, Gary and Betsy Mayer, Pasadena, CA, Denny Mayer, Phoenix, AZ, Jim Mayer, Crestline, and David and Claudia Mayer, Peoria, AZ; her four grandchildren: Kristen Garza, Courtney and Matt Sarnie, Jordan Ady, Connor Mayer; her three great granddaughters: Samantha Sarnie, Mia Garza, Millie Garza, and great granddaughter, Sophie, due to arrive any day now.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant great grandson, Luke Sarnie.
The rosary will be recited on Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, led by Deacon William Horning. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline, with Rev. Michael A. Geiger, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline.
