Marilyn J. (Gantzler) Amick
CRESTLINE: Marilyn J. (Gantzler) Amick, 81, of Crestline, went to be with her Savior, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital.
Marilyn was born in Crestline on December 10, 1932 to the late Charles R. and Mary F. (Lewis) Gantzler.
Marilyn graduated from Crestline High School in 1950 and enjoyed meeting her classmates for reunions and social gatherings. As a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crestline she was active with the Shepherdess Circle and served on the Altar Guild. She retired from Walmart after sixteen years in customer service. She also enjoyed her years working at the Crestline Auto Club and Galion Murphy Mart/Ames. She especially enjoyed her daughters and being involved in all their school activities. She was proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends may remember her eagerness to share her photos. After her retirement she volunteered at Crestline North Elementary School and was honored as Volunteer of the Year. The school children called her "school grandma" and continued to call her "grandma" after they were grown. In recent years she enjoyed meeting "The Gang" at McDonald's in the afternoons. She was a kindhearted woman and enjoyed family gatherings. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and cross word puzzles completing them in INK. She lived in Crestline her entire life and loved the community. She especially enjoyed Sunday visits with her nephew, Trent Gantzler.
She is survived by her daughters: Susan (Carney) Mangrum, Iberia, Linda (Doug) Algire, York, SC, Cindy (Steve) Shasky, Mansfield, Cathy (Charlie) Lilly, Albemarle, NC; 11 grandchildren: Adrian Algire, Chrissi (Sean) Park, Mikkel (Marilyn) Algire, Charlie Jr. (Jennifer) Lilly, Joshua (Amanda) Martin, Jeremy Lilly, Ryan (Reba) Mangrum, Amie Algire, Min Joo (Craig) Bruening, Emily Shasky, and Destiney Lilly; 11 great-grandchildren: Kailynn Lilly, Logan Lilly, Zachary Park, Camden Lilly, Nicholas Park, twins Haylie Martin and Heidi Martin, Jakob Algire, Benjamin Park, Lulu Mangrum, Asher Algire and Rylan Page due to arrive in October; her brothers: Raymond Gantzler, Ronald (Cheryl) Gantzler; numerous nieces and nephews; and the father of her children, Gene Amick, Galion.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Charles Gantzler.
Friends may call Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery, Iberia.
