Marlene S. Guisinger
SHELBY: Marlene S. Guisinger, age 63, resident of Shelby, Ohio died Sunday, November 25, 2012 in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital following a recent illness.
Born October 28, 1949 in Akron to the late Thomas and Arlene (Schaaf) Wanzie, she was a former Ashland, Ohio resident for ten years prior to her marriage and subsequent move to Shelby on November 21, 1987. A 1967 graduate of Akron Garfield High School, she attended college at the University of Akron. Marlene had worked as a clerical secretary for an accounting firm and was employed ten years with Shelby Insurance Co. before becoming a phlebotomist, working 11 years in the Outreach Lab of MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital where she retired in December of 2011.
Marlene enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, reading, listening to CHRISTmas music and watching CHRISTmas movies. A true "people person" she could always put a smile on anyone's face. She loved attending oldies music concerts, especially the Lettermen. Through the years, she and her husband, John, had been fortunate to meet hundreds of musical artists. For many years, the couple enjoyed their annual trek to Frankenmuth, Michigan. Anytime at home, Marlene could always be found next to her beloved Zoe, the couple's miniature dachshund.
Survivors include her husband, John A. Guisinger II, of Shelby; her daughters, Kristen (John) Sortman of Huber Heights and Kara (Robert) Bales of Centerville; six grandchildren, Emilie and Elizabeth Peyatt, Hannah and Samuel Sortman, Braden and Levi Bales; step grandson, Jordan Brandt; her step-children, John A. (Jenni) Guisinger III, of Shelby and Jennifer A. (Ryan) Schroeder of Shelby; ten step-grandchildren, Alexander and Mollie Kaple, Parker, Cooper, Grady, Remington, and Vaydie Schroeder, John A. IV, Katelyn, and Haley Guisinger; cousins, other relatives, and last, but not least, the dachshund princess, Zoe.
