Marvin Leroy Zody

MANSFIELD: Marvin Leroy Zody, age 85, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 16, 2013. He was born September 29, 1927 in Perrysville, Ohio, one of ten children of the late David and Alta (Smail) Zody. He was a 1945 graduate of Perrysville High School. Marvin was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Tappan for 41½ years retiring as maintenance foreman. A "jack of all trades", Marvin could fix just about anything put before him. In his free time, he enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanita (Downs) Zody, whom he married on June 18, 1949; two daughters, Cathy A. (Jim) Smith and Diane M. Zody, all of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Tara (Nathan) Lautzenhiser and Courtney (Jared) Harmony; five great-grandchildren, Grace, Cohen, Preston, Mason and Oliver; three brothers, Harold Zody and Gaylord (Norma) Zody, both of Loudonville, Marion "Shine" (Shirley) Zody of Wooster; a sister-in-law, Janice of Mansfield; special family friend, James Hendrickson; his feline companion of 19 years, Jelly; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, David, Henry, Donald and Albert; and two sisters, Catherine and Donna.
