SHELBY: Mary Lopez, age 70, resident of Shelby died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital.
Born January 10, 1943 in Mexico to Trinidad and Marcelina (Flores) Rodriguez she had been a Shelby resident since 1962. Mary had been employed with Shelby Memorial Hospital, Great Scot and had worked in the cafeteria at General Motors
Mrs. Lopez was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing and loved flowers, plants, and gardening. She was an awesome cook who loved babies and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Salvador Lopez, Jr. and Anthony Lopez, both of Shelby; three daughters, Cindy Lawrence of Columbus, Rose (Greg) Ogborn of Marion and Sandy (Scott) Chilson of Shelby; nine grandchildren, David, Michael, Maria, Angelica, Selena, Phillip, Marcelina, Luke and Isa; eleven great-grandchildren, five brothers, Rufus and Lee Rodriguez, John, Luther, and Danny Roseboro, four sisters, Cecilia Snyder, Olga Hine, Rachel and Rita Rodriguez, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Lopez on September 25, 2012, one son, Jose A. Lopez, infant daughter, Linda Lopez, and grandson, Markus Lawrence.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Nicholas Cunningham will officiate with interment in Crawford County Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00PM where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial expressions be made to Mary's family in care of Barkdull Funeral Home, P.O. Box 644, Shelby, OH 44875.
