Melvin A. Sutton

SANDUSKY: Melvin A. Sutton, 92, of Sandusky passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the Ohio Veterans Home. He was born March 14, 1922 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania to the late Hilda (Farland) and Paul Sutton.

Melvin was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was a member of the B.P.O.E (Elks), V.F.W., Amvets, Moose Lodge and Mansfield Masonic Lodge F & A.M. A hard worker, he enjoyed his jobs as Brandt Distributing, and Miller's Meat, both in Mansfield; Venice Pier and Albertson Grocery, both in Venice, Florida. His work ethic is a lasting legacy passed onto his family. In what little spare time he had, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends.

Mel is survived by two sons, Melvin R. (Pat) Sutton of Shelby, John Sutton of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Gerry "Chris" Boyd, Don (Lisa) Sutton and Eric Sutton; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Mustache; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Toy in 1978; second wife, Kate in 2003; granddaughter, Tricia Morehead; two sisters, Lorraine Stewart and Dolly Sutton; and three brothers, George, Bob and Jimmy Sutton.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Contributions in memory of Melvin may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
