COLUMBUS: Michael Jokerst of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 3, 2012 at home, surrounded by his family. He had been fighting pancreatic cancer for over a year.
He was a native of Galion, Ohio, the son of Raymond and Barbara Jokerst. He is a 1975 graduate of Galion High School. He married Cecelia (Richardson) at Immaculate Conception Church in Clintonville.
He is survived by his wife, his son Andrew; and daughter Christina; he is also survived by his mother; brothers Thomas (Beth) of Versailles, Ohio, Patrick of Galion, Steven (Kate) of Westerville, Ohio; David of Galion; Preceding him in death are his father and sister Anna Marie.
Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, relaxing at Lake Erie, and had recently retired from Nationwide Insurance and FocusCFO.
He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and an avid Buckeyes and Browns fan. Mike spent many years of voluntary community service with several organizations across the years: Junior Achievement, The Hannah Neil Center, Columbus Rotary, GroundWork Group, Starr Commonwealth, Worthington Community for Schools, and World of Children Governing Board.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, October 6 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church on 6899 Smoky Row Rd. in Columbus. Friends may visit the family at 9:30 AM prior to the mass.
