Michael "Mike" L. Stevens

MANSFIELD: Michael "Mike" L. Stevens, W8EMT (Crash), 52, of Mansfield, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born August 3, 1961 in Mansfield, he was the son of Dale E. Stevens and Nancy (Chew) Stevens Shoemaker. He was a 1980 graduate of Madison High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy and the Army National Guard. He was a self employed truck driver contracted by Daily Express and was a member of the HAM Radio League, ARRL, Sky Warn and Amvets Post #26. Mike also was a volunteer for the Madison Fire Department, was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and enjoyed HAM radio. He was a loving and caring man who was always doing for others and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Lisa (Sherman) Stevens; two sons, Mike (Amanda) Stevens of Butler and Ryan Stevens of Mansfield; his mother, Nancy Shoemaker of Mansfield; a brother, Russell (Melody) Stevens of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren, Justice, Gavin, Timberlie, Chealselyn, Ethan, Toryn, Julian, Jaxson, Ruby and Elliana; a cousin, Bob Boales of Kentucky; six nieces and nephews, Amber (Joe) Crain, J. R. Stevens, Avery, Mackenzie, Brady and Darbie Kirkpatrick; and a great niece, Aubrey Crain. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Stevens and his step father, Teddy Shoemaker.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Oakie Evans. Full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail at the funeral home following the service.
