Michael O. Sweval "Mo"

MANSFIELD: Michael O. Sweval "Mo", 63, of Mansfield, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born June 8, 1949 in Mansfield, he was the son of Gene O. and Beulah M. (Chapman) Sweval. After 28 years of service Mike retired in 1999 from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Post 70. An avid golfer, Mike was a member of the Pebble Creek Golf Club. He loved fishing at the lake, cutting wood, grilling on his Weber grill, and watching the Cleveland Indians. Mike also liked riding his Harley. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and playing softball. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion in Loudonville as well as a member of the Ohio Troopers Association.

He is survived by his mother, Beulah Sweval of Mansfield; daughters, Kari (Bryan) Maglott and Soni (James) Crist, both of Mansfield; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, and Brandon Maglott and Samantha and Abbigale Crist; sister, Rita Sweval of Galena; mother of his children with whom he renewed their wedding vows on the day of his passing, Judy (Sweval) Crawford; niece, Valerie (Mirza) Ahmed; two great nephews and a great niece; an aunt and several cousins; dear "nephew", Jon (Lori) Holzworth; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Rick Sweval.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1262 Ashland Rd., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the or St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
