Neal Hart Doerrer
ONTARIO: Neal Hart Doerrer, 90, of Ontario, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Born September 21, 1922 in Mansfield, he was the son of Ralph H. and Artie A. (Lehman) Doerrer. A veteran of the United States Army
he served during World War II
in the Military Police during the Battle of the Bulge and retired from Ohio Brass after 48 years of service. He was a member of First Congregational Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW
where he served as past treasurer. He enjoyed hunting and cutting wood and loved gardening and canning his rewards and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Kelly.
He is survived by his sister, Vivian Culler; step children, Sandra (Jim) Crossland, Sue (Don) Evans, Ruth Homuth, Robert (Lyn) Homuth, Harry Davis and Linda (Tom) Booth; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion (Levison) Doerrer; his second wife, Jenny Doerrer; brothers, Ralph Doerrer, Jr. and Howard Doerrer; a sister, Avis Gladden; brothers-in-law, Gerald Gladden and Martin Culler; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Doerrer.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Bruce Haapalainen. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lucas. Military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
