Paul F. Hammer
MANSFIELD: Paul F. Hammer, 71, of Mansfield, died Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Liberty Nursing Home.
Born September 23, 1942 in Mansfield, he was the son of Frank P.and Ruth L.(Winkler) Hammer.
A 1961 graduate of Mansfield Senior High, he retired from Westinghouse. He loved any sports and was a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Mansfield Senior High Tygers. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and supported the Mansfield Fire Department. He enjoyed bowling and collecting memorabilia of various things that were important to him especially pictures of his family. He loved to tell stories and was a very generous person with all he had.
He is survived by his loving ex-wife, Diana Hammer; a son, Mike Hammer; a daughter, Carol (Brian) Houseworth; a granddaughter, Olivia Houseworth; a brother, Steve (Debbie) Hammer; an aunt, Martha Wilhelm; an uncle, Cliff Hammer; cousins he grew up with, Rheta (Harry) Copper and Judi Balyeat; and numerous nieces, nephews and other cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Although Paul missed his friends at Dayspring Assisted Living Facility, he soon felt at home at Liberty Nursing Home. He was treated with love and dignity at Liberty, therefore, the family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers and nurses from Liberty and Southern Care Hospice.
The family asks that family and friends please wear Mansfield Senior High Tygers or The Ohio State Buckeyes attire to calling hours and services.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 399 S. Trimble Road, Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Ron Biddle. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
