Paul A. "Andy" Stone

MANSFIELD: Paul A. "Andy" Stone, 92, of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013, at Mifflin Care Center, following a brief illness.

Andy was born on April 9, 1920, in Wellsville, OH, to Paul F. and Emma O. Anderson Stone. He graduated in 1940 from Wellsville High School, and went on to serve his country in the U. S. Army, during WWII. While serving his country, he received the Theater Ribbon with seven Bronze Stars and the American Defense Service Medal. He was assigned to the 3853rd Quartermaster Gasoline Supply Company. He was stationed in Africa, England, Italy, and Sicily, and had many stories to tell about his service to his country. He also enjoyed sharing his travels through 48 of the 50 states. He retired from Mansfield Glass in 1985. He was a master at wood working and had built many beautiful items for his family and friends to enjoy. He was a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church and of the American Legion Post #16.

He is survived by one brother, Eddie (Mary Ann) Stone of Sugarland, TX; two sisters-in-law, Mary Stone of Wellsville, OH and Rita Stone of Parma, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews including his niece, Sally Stone of Wellsville, OH.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia "Judy" Stone; his son, John Reed Stone; and four siblings, Harry C. "Jack" Stone, Charles F. Stone, Regina Dennis, and Martha Powell.

Calling hours will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bonnie Peltomaa officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will perform Military Honors.
