Perry Avin Ramey
MANSFIELD: Perry Avin Ramey, 81, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Kobacker House in Columbus.
One of thirteen children of the late Ida June (Bellis) and Charles Alfred Ramey, he was born in Lafayette, Indiana on September 26, 1932.
Perry retired from the U.S. Marine Corp after 27 years of service, rising from the rank of Private to Major. After retiring from the military, he worked as a janitor for Madison Schools for 25 years. Perry was an active member of Little Washington Congregational Church where he served as an elder.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, David (Therese) Ramey of Westerville; daughter, Teresa D. Kirkland of Columbus; three grandchildren, Jessica Ramey, Caitlin Derdzinski and Samantha Ramey; two sisters, Barbara Ramey and Alice Utash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Mae Beck Ramey; two daughters, Patricia Ellen and Donna Lynn Ramey; and ten brothers and sisters.
The funeral service conducted by Rev. David Root will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
