Ray V. Allen
MANSFIELD: Ray V. Allen, 84, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away from this life on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Hospice House of North Central Ohio in Ashland, Ohio.
Mr. Allen was born November 18, 1927 in Wayland, Kentucky to Troy and Eva (Morris) Allen both preceding him in death. Living in the Mansfield area since 1953, he retired in 1989 as crane operator with Empire Detroit Steel. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army
from 1945 to 1947, spending most of his tour of duty in Frankfort, Germany serving as Railway Security with the Military Police. After his tour of duty with the Armed Forces, Mr. Allen married the love of his life, Glenda Jean Patton on May 10, 1947 in Hueysville, Kentucky.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Combs and two brothers, James V. and Richard L. Allen. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Glenda; two sons, Larry D. and Paul V. and Brenda; two grandsons, Thomas M. and Laura and Jeremie and Jackie Allen; two granddaughters, Heather Lynn Stephenson and Kimberly Sue Allen; one great grandson, Jeffrey Stephenson; three great granddaughters; Leah Michelle, Teagan Elizabeth, and Adrian Elise Allen; one great great grandson, Keely Allan Stephenson; two brothers, Clarence Olen and Ladonna Allen of Sedalia, Missouri and Edgar Russell and Janice Allen of Medway, Ohio; along with many nephews, nieces, and friends. Also surviving Mr. Allen are two very special men in his life, his very dear brother in Christ Jeff Lawhun and Raymond Gene Ward whom he, by heart, adopted, dearly loved, and referred to as his son!!
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario, on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012 with his son, Paul V. Allen officiating and Pastor Herman King, James King, and Larry Hill assisting followed by military services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
