Richard L. Rader
SHELBY: Richard L. Rader, age 82, resident of Shelby died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at his home.
Born March 5, 1931 in Mansfield to Paul and Lucille (Noble) Rader he had been a Shelby resident the majority of his life. A 1949 graduate of Shiloh High School he was formerly employed with the Autocall Co., Shelby Police Department and the Ohio Seamless Tube Co. He moved his family to Florida and was employed as an appliance installer with Sears. He returned to Shelby and took employment with Tech Form Industries. He had served during the 1950's in the Air National Guard.
Dick was a talented woodworker and was well known by many area residents for his expertise in re-finishing furniture. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. Dick had a very special place in his heart for the numerous dogs he had owned over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo (McClead) Rader; one daughter, Jody (Dave) Brenneis of Lexington; three grandsons, Daviid (Amber) Rader and Jim (Kasey) Rader, all of Mansfield and Kevin Rader of Shelby; six great grandchildren; cousins and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, David Rader in 2005, and Steve Rader in 2012; his grandson, Nathan Rader in 2006 and one great-granddaughter, Faith Rader in 2003.
As per Dick's wishes, services and calling hours will not be observed.
