Robert W. McDonald
LOUDONVILLE: Robert W. McDonald, 76, of Loudonville, died Friday evening, October 11, 2013 at his home following a six month battle with ALS.
Mr. McDonald was born June 20, 1937 in Fredericktown, the son of the late Arthur and Irene Elmira (Carter) McDonald.
Robert was a 1955 graduate of Howard High School and a veteran of the US Army. He was an experimental mechanic in Testing and Development for The Flxible Company, Loudonville for 43 years before its closing in 1996. He then worked until 1999 at the MCI plant, Loudonville. Robert was a member of River of Life Community Church, Butler, a former member of First Baptist Church, Loudonville and the Mohican Valley Wings Chapter of the Gold Wing Club. His hobbies were woodworking and building furniture.
Robert is survived by his wife, Alice L. (Farmer) McDonald, whom he married July 24, 1960; his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Paul Dawson of Perrysville; two grandsons, Shawn (Audrey) Dawson of Springfield and Matthew (Robin Wolf) Dawson of Perrysville; four brothers, Charles (Shaila) McDonald and Darrell (Karen) McDonald both of Fredericktown, Glen McDonald of Mt. Vernon and Neil (Patty) McDonald of Utica; four sisters, Marcenia McFadden of Danville, Marcella Graham of Walhonding, Kathleen Hunter and Joyce McDonald, both of Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Edward, Carl and Lewis McDonald.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 17 at 10:30am in River of Life Community Church, Butler with Pastor Bill Lewis officiating. Burial with military honors presented by the American Legion and VFW
will be in Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE.
