Roger Lee Wissler

MANSFIELD: Roger Lee Wissler, 75, of Mansfield, died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Liberty Nursing Center. Born March 31, 1937 in Ashland, he was the son of George and Helen (Baker) Wissler. Roger graduated from Ashland High School in 1955 where he was an excellent football player. After high school, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps for two years. Roger attended Community Bible Church and retired from GM after 31 years working in the shipping department. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked watching and playing football. Roger enjoyed collecting antiques and war memorabilia and had a booth at many antique and gun shows.

He is survived by his wife, Margery (Yeagle) Wissler, whom he married August 3, 1963; his children, George Wissler and Benjamin Wissler; brother, Dick Burns of Ashland; brothers-in-law, John Yeagle of Ashland, George Yeagle of Lakewood, CO, and Richard (Margery) Yeagle of Brighton, MI; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Rose of Ashland, Lucille Frey of Portland, OR, and Joyce Yeagle of Bountiful, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Caroline Anne Wissler in 1965 at the age of 10 months; sister-in-law, Patricia Yeagle; and brothers-in-law, Robert Yeagle, David Rose, and Max Frey.

Burial will be held in Ashland Cemetery at a later date. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Roger Wissler.
