Ronald E. Keiser
SHELBY: Ronald E. Keiser, age 76, resident of Shelby, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 surrounded by his family in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born June 13, 1937 in Shelby to Lawrence and Gladys (Hinkle) Keiser he had been a Shelby resident the majority of his life. A 1955 graduate of Shelby High School, he was a veteran of the US Navy
serving with the Seabees in Guam and Okinawa. He was employed with General Motors
retiring after 40 years of service and worked construction with Little "A" Construction for many years.
Ron was a member of First Lutheran Church, U.A.W. Local #549 and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed traveling, seeing a good portion of the United States and traveling abroad. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, working in the yard, watching the birds and squirrels and cooking for friends and family. During his retirement years, he could easily be found on the back patio reading a good book and enjoying the company of his dog, Pearl.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn L. (Thunnell) Keiser, whom he wed June 30, 2003; his children, Kim (Andy) Finch of Warsaw, IN, Ron (Susan) Keiser of Knoxville, TN, Lisa (Larry) Korbas of Shelby and Tim (Leslie) Keiser of Fulsheaer, TX; two stepchildren, Robert (Hope) Keeton of Willis, MI and Russell (Amanda) Roley of Mansfield; ten grandchildren, Natalie (Chad) Baloy, Jennifer (Justin) Thomas, Camille Keiser, Brianna (Alex) Sampsel, Allison Finch, Kristen Finch, Jacob Keiser, Tyler Korbas, Aiden Keiser, Noah Keiser, Wyatt Keiser; eight stepgrandchildren, Ryanne Roley, Reagan Roley, Elizabeth Roley, Jerry Jackson, Caitlyn Kohlhorst, Samantha Kohlhorst, Christopher Abel, and Mathew Abel; one great grandchild, Kaylee Thomas; three brothers, Kit (Shirley) Keiser of Albuquerque NM, Howard (Kathy) Keiser of New Haven, Butch (Marie) Keiser of Clarksville, TN; his sister, Sandi (Don) Minor of Norwalk, OH; brother-in-law, Charles (Claudia) Thunnell of Murietta, CA, sister-in-law, Vi Keiser of Orange, CA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, C. Eileen Keiser in 1998; two brothers, Lawrence Jr. and Rick Keiser and sister-in-law, Wilma Keiser.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Russel Yoak will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Joint Veteran's Burial Detail. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
