Rosa "Rosi" Buckmaster
MANSFIELD: Rosa "Rosi" Buckmaster, 87, of Mansfield, died early Thursday morning, May 2, 2013 at Mansfield Memorial Homes. She was born November 26, 1925 in Nurnberg, Germany to the late Konrad and Berta (Lutz) Maul. Rosi met her future husband, Arno Buckmaster, after WWII in Germany at the hospital where she was working. They married and moved to the United States, starting their family.
She was a wonderful seamstress and had worked at JC Penney for many years and had the honor of cutting the ribbon at the opening of the store in the Richland Mall. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, flowers-being especially proud of her hanging baskets. Rosi was an ardent traveler, going on many trips with the Freedom Years Richland Bank Bus Tours or anywhere the car would take her. She was an excellent cook and shared many of her German-inspired dishes with family and friends. An active member of First English Lutheran Church, she helped assemble "The Visitor" newsletter.
She is survived by four children, Maria (Jeff) Stewart of Avon, Carl (Kim) Buckmaster of Ontario, Ruth (Don) Cornell of Lancaster and Karen (Wayne) Booher of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Ben, Jessica, Kristina, Melanie, Andrew, Matthew, Renee and Tony; two step grandchildren, Nikki and Kitty; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Arno Buckmaster and brother, Karl Maul.
Friends and family may visit from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Paul Larson officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Rehab Center.
