MANSFIELD: Rubye Berry knew that if you want to make friends, be friendly. Engaging and pleasant, she never met a stranger and made many friends wherever life's journey took her.

Rubye Moore Berry, age 94, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home following a short illness.

She was born July 13, 1920 in Miami, Florida to Aubrey O. and Cleo B. Moore and was graduated from Miami High School.

Rubye worked in Washington D.C. and New York City as a secretary for the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. After the war, she moved to the Mansfield area where she worked in the office of both Mansfield Tire and Tappan, and also as a home health care worker.

A loving and devoted mother, she also adored her grandsons and enjoyed hearing of their adventures.

Friendly and outgoing, Rubye made many friends, whom she considered family, at Bob Evans.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Bobbie and Dr. Jeffrey Schmunk of Mansfield and Linda Berry Haas of Brandon, Florida; and two grandsons, Matthew Schmunk of Columbus and Michael Schmunk of Groveport.

Rubye was preceded in death by a brother, Aubrey O. Moore and a sister, Roberta Comfort.

A private graveside service will be held in Mansfield Memorial Park. The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Berry family with cremation arrangements.
